Did you know? Vetiver goes back thousands of years dating back to the ancient Indian Indus Valley civilization, where its roots were used for their medicinal and aromatic properties. The roots, rich in essential oil, are cultivated for their unique fragrance, which is highly valued commercially. Vetiver is grown in many countries, including Haiti, India, Indonesia, China, Brazil, Réunion, Madagascar, Comoros, and Fiji. Haiti produces a high-quality variety of vetiver as well as India and Madagascar, because of the climate. Vetiver is described as earthy, woody, and smoky with hints of nuts such as hazelnut and peanut. It can also have green, leathery, and grapefruit notes. It is used in a fragrance compound to give it a long-lasting, woody scent. Until recently, Vetiver was mainly used in Masculine fragrances; however, you can now find it in Feminine and Unixes fragrances.
